My Simple & Effective Formula for a Healthy Weight (and How You Can Apply It!)

I often get asked how I maintain a healthy weight, and it's definitely a result of conscious choices across various aspects of my life. Today, I want to pull back the curtain and share the key pillars of my personal routine – the same principles I weave into my teaching to help you find what works best for you.

 

Taking a Step Back: The Power of "Why" & Curiosity

Before we dive into the "how," let's touch on the "why." Your motivation is the engine that drives your consistency. Whether it's keeping up with energetic kids (like mine!), improving your health, or simply feeling good in your own skin, identifying your "why" is the crucial first step. In fact, seeking clarity on my "why" has become one of my own Wellness Vortex non-negotiable habits. But even more foundational is Curiosity. For me, curiosity is my top non-negotiable habit; it's the bedrock for everything I explore and learn in wellness. It fuels my understanding and my ability to adapt and grow.

🎉 Reflecting on 16 incredible years immersed in the world of wellness, with the last 5 blossoming into a full-time, fulfilling career!

It's been an amazing journey, and I wanted to share some key lessons that have resonated deeply, hoping they offer some inspiration for those who are in the journey:

Key #1. "Gratitude Mirror" (aka Talk Nice to Yourself, Buttercup! 💖):

Let's cultivate self-acknowledgment. Look in that mirror and offer praise, even on tough days! Acknowledge wins, efforts, and just showing up. Practice saying "thanks, me!" and even "I kinda dig you." Build that gratitude muscle; it gets easier! I personally start and end my days with gratitude journaling and a little zen. The bottom line: start and finish and in between the day with gratitude. In my practice, I talk about the Life Principle: Want it? Generate it! Want more positivity in life? don't wait for it! Generate it.

Celebrating 21 Years & Embracing Confidence!

Happy Sunday!

I'm closing out a celebratory three-month season with a final personal milestone: today marks 21 years since I came to the U.S.

 

Looking back,

my personal transformation stands out the most. I went from being a very shy child and young adult (still one to think before I speak!) to someone willing to speak up and confidently teaching others. In fact, I've gone from having limited knowledge of physical health to actively practicing, coaching, and training others. That's the power of practicing confidence, my friends!

Sure, I still get shy sometimes, and thoughts can creep in, but I don't let them rule me. I act my best, knowing this journey continuously shapes me into a confident and competent individual.

My Fitness Journey: From "Impossible" to "Possible"

Believe it or not, I wasn't always the fitness enthusiast I am today. In fact, gym class was my least favorite subject in school. Running felt like torture, and let's not even mention sit-ups! I remember dragging my feet to class and feeling discouraged.

Fast forward to my 40s, and things hadn't changed much. Then, a friend invited me on a Wednesday morning run. I was hesitant – 5 kilometers seemed like an impossible feat! After each run, my hips were hurting – the kind of pain no one wants to feel.

A Little Girl's Journey

In a distant memory,

I see a five-year-old little girl sitting in a dark corner. She has her arms wrapped around her legs and her head is hiding between the circle of her arms and knees. She feels scared. She does not even know for sure why. But what she does know for sure, is if she keeps sitting like this—quiet, silent—no one will either hear her or see her. And that means she is safe.

Twenty-five years later, she finds herself in a different country. She is a young mom with two beautiful daughters. She is married and living in a beautiful house. Everything looks perfect on the outside. But on the inside, she feels sick and tired and worn, and sitting in the same position hugging her knees. Except now she is at her favorite spot, looking straight across a peaceful lake and questioning her ‘silent’ life, questioning her worth.
