Does this picture remind you your posture?

I am curious if you already seating up straight. :-)

How do we achieve physical strength?

How do we prevent or fully recover from injuries?

How shall we exercise so we can benefit by feeling confident and strong in daily life?

In my recent video I talk about two major elements of building your body’s strength inside out: functional movement and re-aligning your body via corrective exercise.

Corrective Exercise

is a technique that leverages an understanding of anatomy, kinesiology, and biomechanics to address and fix movement compensations and imbalances to improve the overall quality of movement during workouts and in everyday life.

Corrective Exercise is used to help assess and determine the root cause of imbalances and faulty movement patterns that lead to issues with posture, balance, and total body coordination. It is achieved through a human movement assessment. If you like to have one done for you, schedule your deep dive session HERE.

Once the issue or issues are identified, I then develop an exercise routine that addresses the problem through activating weak muscles, stretching tight muscles, and total body exercises.

Benefits of Corrective Exercise

  • Increases flexibility
  • Increases muscle activation
  • Increases joint stability
  • Improves neuromuscular efficiency (coordination)
  • Reduces risk of injury Improves movement patterns
  • Increases ability to recover
  • Prepares the body for higher intensity exercise

Take a look at my clients’ success stories:

Anne: "My PT said I don’t need a knee surgery any more!"

Katy: "I was able to walk upstairs three times!"

Functional Movement

is the ability to move the body with proper muscle and joint function for effortless, pain-free movement. Learning how to be bio-mechanically efficient with everything you do, whether it’s for sports and athletics, general fitness, or daily life activities, is very important for maintaining good health and avoiding injury.

Why functional training is important?

  • Can increase the ease of everyday movement
  •  Low impact; therefore, most of us can do it
  • Increases flexibility, coordination, balance & posture
  • Can help with your joint pain
  •  Helps reduce the risk of Injury
  • A great way to builds muscle
  • Helps lose weight
  • Helps to build confidence and body awareness in daily activities

Seven primary functional moves:

  • Squats
  • Lunges
  • Push
  • Pull
  • Bent
  • Twists
  • Gait: walking, running

In our fitness classes, we focus on incorporating these seven primary moves while integrating as many muscle groups as possible as well as switching planes of motion (direction). This approach helps build robust body awareness and physical strength.
