You Can't Put Health on Hold

​In our recent My Power Journal Book Club discussions, a reflection came to the surface that I knew I had to share with you today.
​One of our participants was sharing how she’s navigating a family emergency—hospital visits, stress, and total disruption. She felt like she had "stopped" her health because she didn’t have the time to hit her "goals."
​In that moment, I picked up My Power Journal and drew a tree.
​What We Get Wrong About Health
​The biggest mistake we make is thinking that health is something we can "put on the back burner" until life settles down.
​
There is no such thing as "doing it later."
​You aren't putting your health on hold because your health is a constant state of being.
Every moment, your body is performing.
You are breathing. You are nourishing. You are holding a posture.
These aren't tasks you add to a list; they are the Non-Negotiable Wellness Habits that are occurring whether you are aware of them or not.
​The question isn't whether you are "doing" health—the question is: What is the quality of how your body is functioning in this moment?

​The Root System vs. The Petals
​Think of your health as the roots of your tree. Your "Life"—your business, your family, your relationships—those are the branches and the petals.
​Most people wait for the "rain" of a perfect schedule to water their roots. But your roots are always there, and they are always absorbing something. This is like a budget. It’s not about waiting until you have $1,000 to save; it’s about whether you have the consistency to put in fifty cents today.
​It isn't about the amount of time you have; it is about the quality of refinement you bring to the habits that are already happening.
​Don’t Wait. Generate.
​In a crisis, you may not have 60 minutes for the gym. But you are still in a body. That is where the 80/20 Rule becomes your lifeboat.
- ​Breathing: You don't "do" it, but you can upgrade the quality of it.
- ​Posture: You aren't "doing" posture—you are inhabiting it. You can choose to realign it right now to assist how your body feels and processes stress.
- ​Momentum: Even if it’s just three deep, conscious breaths or ten seconds of intentional alignment while sitting in a waiting room—you are watering your roots. You are choosing a higher quality of "Now."
