The busy-ness norm of our society (and how to flip the script) 🛑⏳

Being overwhelmed and always busy is an accepted norm in our society. 🛑🤯
We treat it like it’s something normal—always overwhelmed, always busy, running on empty, not enough time. ⏳❌
We normally experience it as an endless cycle of mental chatter: we wake up already thinking about the 10 things we are behind on, we scroll through emails while making breakfast, we rush through our day with our shoulders up to our ears, and then we lie in bed at night with a racing mind, checking off a mental to-do list instead of sleeping. We accept this chronic rushing, along with fast food and under-sleeping, as just "the way life functions" now. 🏃♀️🍳🛌

But what is this societal norm actually costing us? When we stay in this chronic rush, the toll on our lives is massive. In our personal health, it shows up as skyrocketing obesity rates, diabetes, chronic anxiety, and depression. I just recently graduated from the Citizens Police Academy, and spending months seeing firsthand what is happening in our local communities made it crystal clear: our society's mental health is at a breaking point. 📉🛑
We are literally paying for our "busy-ness" with our lives. It dictates how we live until the day we die. And at the end of the day, that's what this is about: How do you want to die? Do you want to leave this earth carrying a heavy sack of regrets? Or do you want to say, "You know what? My life wasn’t always easy, but it was so worth it. I lived it to the absolute fullest." 🕊️✨
As I mentioned in the last Sunday reflection, this is exactly why people put wellness on the background. In reality, we don't ever "not do" wellness. Wellness goes either up the Wellness Vortex or down the sickness vortex, but the habits and the actions never stop. We are always doing or not doing something. 🔄
We are always taking actions, and the quality and direction of those actions define the quality of our health and wellness. 📈📉
Now, I am not asking you to stop being busy. It's about what you are busy with. It’s about how you choose the current moment of thinking, feeling, eating, moving, or not moving.
Let me give you my own example of how I had to learn this myself over the last month and a half. Recently, I suddenly had almost five free hours per week due to the loss of a corporate business client. 💼⏳
I found myself with empty time. I’m not going to say free time—because you can wake up with 32 to-dos and go to bed with 42. There's always something to do! It was empty time. 🕳️
Step 1: Default to Silence.
🧱 Whether emptiness is forced on you (like losing a client, which is harder) or you generate it willingly, you must find the silence. And I am not talking about closing your eyes and meditating for hours. True silence is finding the moments in between. ⚡ The moment between your thoughts. The moment between your actions. The moment between when someone says something and you choose to respond. You can find this while standing in line at the grocery store, driving your car in stillness, or washing the dishes while completely present to your five senses. 🛒🚗🧼
Step 2: Challenge the Familiar Behavior.
🧠💥 When you find that emptiness, do not rush to fill it with your old, familiar to-do list behavior! That was a massive challenge for me. My old pattern screamed to fill those 5 hours with busywork. But I stopped and used a clean tool, asking myself:
"Am I putting my old behavior into this empty space, or is it a new possibility?" 🧠⚖️
I realized my endless to-do list was just old behavior. The new possibility was tapping into my dream to bring my wellness message to the big masses, to corporations, organizations, and small businesses. By holding that space of silence, I finally built and launched my online Wellness Academy after years of waiting! 🚀✨

Step 3: Release the Pushing and Let the Results Show.
🏆📈 There are two types of actions: forced action where you are pushing and leaning forward with negative, stressed energy, or inspired action. If you feel yourself pushing and forcing—stop it. Step back, sit back, and default into the silence again. I love sitting outdoors in nature to do this; it's my personal way to generate inspiration. 🌳☀️
When you take consistent, inspired action based on your centered silence, you release the attachment to the outcome. And the results will show up as an immediate response! Just like a tornado moving up the Wellness Vortex, silence is your non-negotiable foundation at the bottom, inspired actions build the upward momentum, and the results show up at the top like beautiful branches on a tree. You don't have to force them; they appear because you generated them through alignment. 🌪️🌲✨
What to Do Now
Look at your calendar this weekend. What are you filling your time with? 🗓️❌
As you move through your activities, drive, or wash the dishes, take a breath and ask: What’s needed now? Am I pushing forward with stress, or can I step back and take inspired action? 🤔💡
