3 lessons from the stage and the studio ๐ค๐ธ
Happy Sunday,
โThis past week was one of intense breakthroughs for me. I stepped into two arenas that used to terrify the "shyest girl in the back row": I completed my participation in the Health and Fitness Magazine cover contest and competed in the Toastmasters International Speech Contest.
โI didn't do these things for a trophy. I did them to lean into my own Personal and Physical Evolution. I wanted to see what was possible when I applied my own principles to the highest levels of pressure. I want to share three lessons I learned this weekend that I hope will inspire you to "Wake up to Wellness" in your own life.

โLesson 1: Get Comfortable Being Discomfortable ๐
โWe cannot grow in a state of comfort. Like a caterpillar transitioning to a butterfly, the growth happens in the struggle.
- โThe Body: For the magazine contest, I had to post images showing my muscles and my skinโshowing the functionality of the 47-year-old physical body. It wasnโt easy to hit "post," but it was a part of the mission: Get up, dress up, show up, and wake up to wellness.
- โThe Voice: Public speaking was never my forte. I used to be the girl who hoped no one knew I existed. Now, I choose the discomfort of the stage because I know that in order to lead a wellness business, I must be able to speak to more than just one person.
The Question: Where can you challenge yourself this week?
โLesson 2: Learn to De-stress in the Middle of the Storm. The cat's attitude. ๐
โIn the middle of these high-pressure competitions, I had to find my "Piece of Mind." My cat, Ophelio, was my greatest teacher this week. Every afternoon, he would crawl onto my chest during my meditation, his purr reminding me to chill out and stay centered.
In the Wellness Vortex, Mindset and Emotional Regulation are non-negotiable. Donโt wait for the stress to end to relaxโLife Principle Number 1: Self-care is a non-negotiable requirement. Generate that calm in every single breath, even when the pressure is on.

โLesson 3: Numbers are Stepping Stones, Not Destinations ๐
โWhether itโs a scale, a fitness rank, or a contest result, numbers are just data for reflection.
- โHealth & Fitness: Two years ago, I was in the Top 5. This year, I finished at #7.
- โToastmasters: Last year, I was Number 1 at the area level. This year, I am Number 1 again at the same level. The number doesn't define you; it shows you who you have become. Last year, I prepared for two months. This year, I prepared for two days and managed my stress with my new tools of stress management. Life Principle Number 3: Goals are stepping stones.
The real prize is the person you become on the journey.
