  • In Your Relationships: If my body feels crappy, I lack the energy to truly hear my loved ones, I miss the nuances, and I withdraw because my energy is spent fighting my own internal sickness.

  • In Your Business: My work becomes pushing and pulling, rather than generating clear, laser-focused action.

Your self-care is not a selfish luxury; it is your highest form of global contribution.

Let’s look at two examples of how to shift from building walls to checking the ground:

 

1. Movement (Beyond the Formal Workout)

 

You don't start with formal fitness classes if you've been inconsistent. That's building a wall! You start with gentle development of habits.

The non-negotiable root here is simply Moving More. The body is designed to move. Before you stress over 150 minutes a week, just try moving more:

  • Make microwave circles around the kitchen island.

  • Focus on proper posture throughout the day.

  • Remember your commitment: I am outside daily for at least 10-20 min.

This small habit fuels your body, improves your psychology, and builds the foundation for formal fitness later.

 

2. Nutrition (Beyond "What Not To Eat")

 

We often obsess over what we are eating (the walls), but the root is why and how we are eating.

The non-negotiable root here is Curiosity.

  • Be curious about your cravings: Why am I craving certain foods? At what time? What's behind my craving?

  • Practice Fooditation: This is literally being present and curious in the process of food consumption. Slow down. Engage all your senses—taste, temperature, smell. When you experience the food fully, your body stops ruminating on negative thoughts.

These foundational choices are the only way to anchor yourself to sustained energy and clarity for life.

  1. I seek clarity of my purpose and know my Why.

  2. I get an adequate amount of sleep.

  3. I focus on my breathing.

  4. I am curious of my emotions and thoughts.

  5. I choose a positive attitude.

  6. I manage my time.

  7. I take breaks for silence.

  8. I am curious about my food choices.

  9. I fooditate (focus on food while eating).

  10. I eat healthy 80% of the time.

  11. I nourish my body with food.

  12. I move my body throughout the day.

  13. I am outside daily for at least 10-20 min.

  14. I focus on proper posture.

  15. I exercise 150 min a week.
