September for Success
Happy Sunday!
It feels like August just flew by, doesn't it? As we wrap up a month focused on proper posture and functional fitness, which are non-negotiable habits in the fitness pillar of our Wellness Vortex, I can't help but feel that classic "back to school" energy in the air—especially now that both of my kids are in college. It's a chance for a fresh start, and for a new routine.
My personal philosophy on wellness is a "back to basics" approach that guides my life, even when I'm traveling or simply being out of the normal routine (holidays are coming...). This is the strong foundation of the Wellness Vortex model and the very momentum to mastery. It's all about my 80/20 rule: consistently hitting my non-negotiables about 80% of the time, leaving room for life's flexibility in the other 20%.
As we head into September, we're shifting our attention to something that's essential for a well life: time and stress management (actually, self-management).
This month, we'll be focusing on one of the non-negotiable habits
"I manage my time".
A Thought on Mindset
Before we dive into our September theme, I wanted to touch on a topic from my recent Facebook Live: the importance of leaving stress and negativity at the door. "I choose positivity" is also a Wellness Vortex non-negotiable habit.
I truly believe that curiosity, followed by choosing positivity, is the foundation for all other healthy habits.
A key to this is the habit of curiosity, which is the foundation of every following action. For example, when you step outside the front door, hold the handle, and look at the mat on which your feet are standing, generate curiosity and ask how you are feeling and what your emotions are. In my Facebook Live, I gave you two tools to release negativity and leave it at the door.
The truth is, all of these topics come down to a single principle I share with my clients: preparation is everything. Think about it: the workout you get done on a busy morning is the one you planned on Sunday. That healthy meal you reach for after a long day is the one you prepped ahead of time. Preparation is the secret ingredient for a week of less stress and more energy.
This same principle is how I fuel my body. My high metabolism needs consistent nourishment, and I rely on foundational habits to make it happen. I start my day with a glass of water, journaling, meditation, and my online group fitness.
September
